As busy professionals, we don't have extra time to spend on a book that may not end up providing the information we want. In the spirit of "many hands make light work", let's share summaries of professional texts with one another. Those who want to read more can then seek out the text on their own.

Daniel Pink's Drive gets to the heart of what motivates all people -- and what DOESN'T motivate them (some of which will surprise you). In the end, Pink highlights three key elements that must be present for humans to engage meaningfully in work of any kind.

Carol Dweck's premise is simple: people either have a "fixed mindset" where they believe that intelligence is unchangeable, or a "growth" mindset where they believe intelligence can grow and improve. Dweck also asserts that we as teachers have the ability to influence a student's perspective on this.
